The Science of Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA)
Sculptra® contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic, biocompatible, and biodegradable substance that has been safely used in medical treatments and dissolvable stitches for decades.
Once injected, the PLLA microparticles act as a structural scaffold, stimulating the fibroblasts within your skin to produce brand-new collagen. CONSULTATION
The first step on your journey is a thorough facial assessment at our aesthetics clinic. Your concerns and facial structure will be assessed followed by a discussion on a treatment plan especially tailored to your goals. We review your medical history and map out your bespoke Sculptra® sessions.

TREATMENT
Sculptra® is injected into the deeper layers of the skin using a fine needle or a comfortable cannula. The treatment takes around 45 minutes depending on the areas being treated. To ensure maximum comfort, a local anaesthetic is often integrated into the treatment process.

RESULTS
The result is gradual, with improvements continuing over time for a refreshed but not overfilled appearance. Most patients require 2 to 3 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, for optimal results. Your body continues to build collagen over the coming months, delivering long-lasting radiance.

Sculptra® is ideal if you are noticing widespread facial volume loss, hollow areas (like the cheeks or temples), or sagging skin due to aging or weight loss. It is perfect for patients who want a subtle, gradual transformation over time rather than the immediate change associated with traditional dermal fillers.
Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers that physically occupy space to create volume, Sculptra® works as a biostimulator. Its PLLA microparticles stimulate your skin's fibroblasts to generate new, natural collagen. It targets the underlying cause of facial aging by structurally rebuilding the skin from within.
The treatment takes around 45 minutes depending on the area being treated. This includes mapping out the injection points, cleansing the skin, performing the injections, and providing a soothing post-treatment massage.
Recovery is generally straightforward, and most patients can return to normal daily activities immediately. Side effects can include swelling, bruising, tenderness, or small lumps at the injection sites, which usually settle within a few days. You will be advised to massage the treated areas (the "5-5-5 rule") to ensure even product distribution.
You may notice a temporary plumping immediately after treatment due to the water content in the injection, which dissipates within a few days. The true, long-lasting results appear gradually over several weeks and months as your body produces new collagen. Optimal results are typically visible around 3 to 6 months after your final session.
Because Sculptra® stimulates your body's own natural collagen production, the results are exceptionally long-lasting. Improvements can continue to last for up to 2 years, or even longer in some patients. An annual maintenance session is often recommended to sustain your collagen levels.
If you are looking to treat hollow cheeks, temple volume loss, deep nasolabial folds, or general skin laxity, you are likely an excellent candidate. However, Sculptra® is not suitable for the immediate eye area or the lips. We will thoroughly assess your skin quality and medical history during your consultation.
Sculptra® is FDA-approved and has an excellent safety profile spanning over two decades. Potential risks include temporary swelling, bruising, or mild asymmetry. Following the strict home massage instructions provided by your injector dramatically minimizes the risk of developing small, under-skin nodules or lumps.
The treatment is highly tolerable. We mix the Sculptra® solution with a local anaesthetic (lidocaine) prior to injection, which numbs the treatment area from the inside out. We also use premium, ultra-fine needles or blunt-tipped cannulas to ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible.
